In this section we aim to provide you with various resources that may be of use to you and your community group. The resources will either be directly available from this site or will be found on an external site which we shall link too. Random Password Generator

Thinking up lots of passwords for all of your community members can be a a strain when you are trying to make sure that they are not easy to break. The password generator below will generate a random password of between 8 and 16 characters.

To save confusion the system does not use the following characters - o O 0 1 i I l (see what we mean!)

FTP Software
You'll need an FTP client to connect to your account. Graphical clients will normally show a local and a remote file listing, and you'll be able to drag files to and from the server.

A couple of recommended graphical clients for Windows - click on the software name to visit their sites and download the application- both have good tutorials/documentation on how to use the software so this will not be repeated here:

FileZilla – OpenSource, free;
SmartFTP – free for personal, educational or non-profit use.

Many popular web design packages also come with FTP software functionality included.

Learning HTML
You can learn the code using from free resources available on the web and then use something like notepad to author the code or a WYSIWYG HTML editor like dreamweaver.

Most Computer magazines come with a cover-disk of free software; one will usually have an older version of a webpage builder for free as well as other useful graphic programs and sometime tutorials to building web sites.
